Right to repair

This entire system is complemented by another directive that enshrines the right to compensation. Its objective is to make repairs easier for consumers and stimulate the repair market. In addition to the two-year legal guarantee, the directive creates, in particular, the consumer’s right to claim repairs from the producer for products that are technically repairable. “This will ensure that consumers always have someone to turn to when they decide to repair their products and will encourage producers to develop more sustainable business models”, explains the Commission.
