Gaming PC on sale at Aldi

If you’re still looking for a new gaming PC later in the year, you might be able to find one at discount store Aldi this week. The online store offers the Medion Erazer Hunter

Medion Erazer Hunter X20: On sale at Aldi from 08.12.

Medion presented the new Erazer Hunter X30 gaming PC with powerful hardware at Gamescom 2022, but the predecessor with only slightly weaker hardware will be on sale at discounter Aldi in its own online store from December 8th.

It is, at least in terms of technical equipment, an updated and adapted model compared to the gaming PC with the same name, also offered at Aldi at the beginning of the year. This had the model name MD34715, while the new version is called MD34765.

However, the new gaming PC has much more powerful hardware to offer. It is powered by the Intel Core i9-12900KF processor, which combines 16 cores (8 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores) with 24 threads and clocks between 3.20 GHz and 5.20 GHz. An Alphacool water cooling system Eisbaer 240 is used for the necessary cooling.

It is supported by 32GB of fast DDR5-4800 working memory. In total, four terabytes of system memory are split equally between a 2TB PCIe SSD and a 2TB hard drive. Unfortunately, Aldi doesn’t provide details on the speeds of the installed SSD. We can only hope this isn’t the bottleneck of the well-equipped gaming PC.

The components are installed on a Gigabyte Z690 AORUS PRO AX motherboard, while the graphics calculation is done by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 12 GB of GDDR6X graphics memory. Therefore, even the most modern games should be able to be played in 4K resolution without any problems. Mainly because the graphics card has three DisplayPort 1.4 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port.

An RTX 3090 (24 GB VRAM) or the new GeForce RTX 4000 graphics cards, such as the RTX 4080 (16 GB VRAM) or the RTX 4090 (24 GB GDDR6), would be even more suitable for the absolutely high-end segment, but also would increase the price considerably. After all, the “cheapest” GeForce RTX 4080 alone costs around 1,500 euros.

However, the installed 3080 Ti offers more than enough reserves for 4K gaming and should be easy to upgrade later.

A 750-watt power supply from Seasonic (Focus GX-750) is installed. Fast WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a network controller for 2.5 Gigabit LAN are also offered. Sound is delivered onboard via a 7.1-channel Realtek high-definition audio chip.

The Medion gaming PC measures 22.7cm x 44.6cm x 48cm and weighs approximately 15kg. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed, as do several trial versions of the software. A wired mouse is also included in the delivery.
