Antivirus company ESET warns Android phone and tablet users about spyware called: VajraSpy. The latter is propagated like a Trojan Horse through 12 Android messaging apps.
This is what we learned through report published by ESET.
The latter explains that hackers will target singles and use multiple techniques related to love fraud.
Once they come into contact with potential prey, they invite them to download a messaging app to continue their discussions.
We will have understood that these are infected with the VajraSpy spyware.
What can VajraSpy spy software do?
VajraSpy spyware hides in these messaging apps via a Trojan horse.
Once awakened, the latter applies these numerous malicious features. Initially, he can fly:
- Our files
- Our location
- Our contact list
- Our call log
- Our SMS text messages
- The list of installed applications
Some of the apps can also intercept our communications through services like WhatsApp and Signal.
But worst of all (Wave Chat) can:
- Record keystrokes on the keyboard
- Take photos with our camera
- Record our telephone conversations
- Start recordings at any time
- Record our WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram conversations
Here’s a cocktail you definitely don’t want to have on your phone!
The worst feature is definitely keystroke logging as we could compromise all our passwords!
Top 12 apps infected by VajraSpy
Here is the list of 12 Android apps infected with VajraSpy spyware:
- Chit Cat
- Hello Cat
- Let’s talk
- Meet me
- Private conversation
- Quick chat
- Chat Wave
The apps: Rafaquat, Privee Talk, MeetMe, Let’s Chat, Quick Chat and Chit Chat have all been removed from the Google Play Store. However, the other 6 continue to spread.
We must therefore be attentive when someone invites us to download one of them.
This without remembering that if we equip ourselves with a good mobile antiviruswe drastically reduce our chances of being infected by any malicious application!
