Paris and Berlin team up to develop AI for their civil servants – LINFO.re

The two capitals, despite recent disagreements on various issues, announced their collaboration to develop artificial intelligence (AI) tools for their respective administrations.

An initiative focused on administrative digitalization

Despite recent disputes, especially over energy issues, Paris AND Berlin announced their commitment to the development of toolsartificial intelligence (IA) intended for use in their administrations.

The central objective of this cooperation is “jointly develop a sovereign suite of digital products“, which aims to provide a comprehensive range of digital tools for public servants. Particular emphasis is placed on creating common instant messaging software. Collaboration will help limit costs by capitalizing on efforts already implemented individually by France and theGermany.

Towards European digital sovereignty

As part of this initiative, the French Interministerial Digital Directorate (Dinum) is developing a tool toAI sovereign generating device intended for public services, called “Albert”. Stéphanie Schaer, interministerial director of digital, is convinced that it is “operating in alliance with other countries, it will be possible to have free and efficient tools.”

For his part, the German Secretary of State, Markus Richter, highlights the need to reinforce digital sovereignty and reduce dependencies. “I am very pleased that we are embarking on this path with our French friends. Thanks to our collaboration, digital sovereignty will be brought to a European level“, he declared.
